PAST EVENT: Supporting future talent in the Built Environment (London)

  • Colliers 95 Wigmore Street London, England, W1U 1FD United Kingdom (map)

For Black History Month, Colliers and PREACH Inclusion® (formerly BAME in Property) came together to support an early careers event with students from Kingston University.

“Your network is your net worth.” – (Porter Gale).

We know how important it is to build connections in your desired career field; to have conversations with people already ‘doing what you want to do’ and to gain those all-important tips before you apply for graduate roles.

The conversations that take place during networking can give you clarity, introduce you to new roles and ultimately, help you find a mentor to support your career as you progress.

That is why, for Black History Month, Colliers and [what was] BAME in Property came together to hold a networking event with students from Kingston University to give them an opportunity to make connections, have conversations and gain some tips from potential employers ahead of deadlines for graduate schemes across the Built Environment industry.

Our aim was to create a relaxed evening, where students and professionals could network over drinks and nibbles.

As part of the event and the 2023 BHM theme, ‘Saluting our Sisters’, we were delighted to be joined by a special keynote speaker, Oby Bamidele, Chief Operating Officer of Built-ID, a social impact PropTech company, helping to create sustainable and inclusive places. Oby is also an author, counsellor and wellbeing coach, focusing on Black mental health, and has supported The Curvy Project, which seeks to build a more empowering and diverse narrative around Black hair, beauty and femininity.
